Entomologist (Pest Control)

Job Overview:

The Entomologist is responsible for investigating, analyzing, and applying scientific principles of entomology to develop and optimize pest management strategies, provide technical expertise to pest control operations, and support client consultation and education within the company.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct investigation on insect biology, behavior, ecology, and control methods to enhance understanding of pest species, their habitats, and vulnerabilities.

• Analyze literature, industry publications, and pest control trends to identify emerging issues, innovative solutions, and best practices for pest management.

• To Identify pest species encountered in client environments and coming up with the treatment plan to against the pest species identified.

• Assess pest infestations, population increase, and environmental factors influencing pest activity to inform the development of targeted control strategies.

• Develop integrated pest management (IPM) plans tailored to client needs, incorporating a combination of biological, cultural, physical, and chemical control methods to minimize reliance on pesticides and mitigate environmental impacts.

• Provide recommendations on pest prevention, habitat modification, and sanitation practices to address underlying conditions conducive to pest infestations and promote long-term pest management.

• Provide technical guidance and support to pest control technicians, supervisors, and field staff on insect identification, pest biology, control techniques, and safety protocols.

• Conduct training sessions, workshops, and continuing education programs for internal staff and external concern people to enhance knowledge and skills in pest management practices.

• Communicate with clients to explain pest biology, treatment options, and IPM principles, addressing questions, concerns, and providing recommendations for sustainable pest control practices.

• Stay informed about relevant regulations, guidelines, and industry standards governing pest control practices, pesticide use, and environmental health and safety.

Qualifications:

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in entomology, biology, or related field required; specialization in urban or structural entomology preferred.

• Extensive knowledge of insect taxonomy, physiology, ecology, and behavior, with expertise in identifying common pest species and understanding their interactions with the environment.

• Previous experience in pest control, entomological research, or a related field, with demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret scientific data, conduct statistical analyses, and generate actionable insights for pest management decision-making.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
