Position: Automotive Plant Maintenance Engineer

Location: Dublin, VA - New River Valley Plant

Experience: 2 to 5 years of relevant experience

Description:

Join our team as an Automotive Plant Maintenance Engineer and play a vital role in optimizing the availability and productivity of our manufacturing facilities and equipment. With a focus on planning, designing, and implementing maintenance programs, you'll ensure seamless operations in our automotive plant.

Responsibilities:

Plan and coordinate maintenance engineering work, including reviewing mechanical and electrical engineering specifications.

Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing maintenance practices and optimizing costs.

Assist in managing subcontractor issues related to maintenance activities.

Establish standards and policies pertaining to pollution control, testing, operating procedures, inspection, and equipment maintenance.

Research and recommend the purchase of new equipment and systems to improve plant efficiency.

Improve and maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with all safety procedures, rules, and regulations, including locker, tools, equipment, and working environment regulations.

Support cross-functional operations teams in maintaining and achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Execute basic and regular pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical maintenance of Robotic, Controls and Peripherals, performing independent work, including performing equipment alignments, welding, and fabrication as required on fixtures, tooling, and racks.

Perform lubrication of equipment and ensure availability of machinery and equipment by completing reactive, preventive, and proactive maintenance requirements following Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs), One Point Lessons (OPLs), machine ledgers, and other visual management tools.

Take part in continuous improvement processes with Kaizen and VPS initiatives and tools.

Look at future work to determine material, equipment, and labor requirements for execution, working with maintenance supervisors, storeroom, support functions, and engineers.

Locate sources of problems by observing operation, listening for problems, and using measuring and testing instruments related to condition-based maintenance.

Respond quickly to emergency situations, replace, adjust, and/or repair parts, dismantling devices using manual tools, power tools, and support equipment.

Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs, escalating and requesting support as necessary.

Be trained in Hazmat response and provide these services as needed.

Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Strictly comply with all safety policies and procedures when performing any activity and safely and efficiently operate drill press, hydraulic press, bench grinder, cutting torch, bandsaw, various hand power tools, etc.

Safely perform various maintenance activities on elevated platforms, scaffolds, and man-lifts.

Properly utilize bolt and gasket techniques including the use of torqueing and tensioning equipment as required.

Analyze and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and mechanical drawings to determine work procedures, materials, tools, and equipment needed to troubleshoot and repair equipment problems.

Safely perform various maintenance functions in a confined space area.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field preferred.

2 to 5 years of relevant experience in maintenance engineering or a related field.

Practical knowledge and experience in electroelectronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical maintenance.

Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting.

Strong understanding of safety procedures, regulations, and best practices in an industrial setting.

Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Kaizen.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Willingness to participate in training programs and skill development opportunities.

Compensation:

Base Pay: $85,000 + DOE
