Title: Email Marketing Manager

Reports to: Director of Retention & Loyalty Marketing

Location: NYC, Brookfield Place

Overview:

The email marketing manager will own operations and reporting for daily Madewell marketing emails, SMS, and app push notifications. This person will be responsible for driving increased online and in-store revenue by optimizing and improving email marketing effectiveness. They will partner closely with our digital marketing team to ensure that the email channel is meeting daily forecast expectations and will drive the business by optimizing email campaign performance, sharing key findings with senior business partners, planning and executing regular A/B tests, and ensuring that all marketing communications are deployed properly. Highly analytical and KPI driven, this associate is always looking to improve email marketing performance while aligning with Madewell strategic goals.

The right candidate will have experience and expertise in email marketing – specifically in the areas of email operations, email metrics and analytics, and email planning.

Primary responsibilities include:

Owns and manages the Madewell email, SMS, and app push marketing calendar – drives planning and scheduling with the aim of ensuring that communications are aligned with key brand messages and daily revenue goals

Oversees and manages certain areas of the email operations process (including segmentation/programming/deployment) and serves as the final sign off on all marketing emails being deployed

Partners with Director of Retention Marketing on setting the email channel strategy and roadmap, laddering up to overall company goals

Writes and submits email briefs, outlining goal/purpose of each email for the creative and copy teams to use as a guide for what to design into

Drives daily email segmentation strategy – always working to ensure that the right message is going to the right customer at the right time

Consistently finds opportunities to increase segmentation, personalization and dynamic content in Madewell marketing emails

Plans and manages a rigorous A/B test calendar, tracking performance and sharing out results/recommendations to wider teams (digital, brand, creative, merchandising)

Reports out on campaign performance on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis, sharing out findings and insights with the wider team

Serves as the subject matter expert on Madewell email marketing – leading discussions and decision-making between cross-functional teams

Qualifications:

3 – 5 years of email marketing experience (including owning email operations, owning/managing an email calendar, and reporting out on email campaign performance)

Background in coding and deploying emails (experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud is a plus)

Experience with SMS and app push notifications a plus

Strong analytics skills w/ proficiency in Excel; proficiency in web analytics is a plus (Google Analytics is a plus)

Experience with project management tools such as JIRA and Airtable

Meticulous organization skills and attention to detail

Thorough understanding of online shopping and retail/fashion markets as well as the email marketing landscape for retailers

Excellent presentation, communication, and project management skills

Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a very cross-functional role

Comfort with a constantly changing environment

Aptitude to think strategically but act tactically at all times

Salary Range: $97,600.00 - $122,000.00
