Employment Type: Maximum Term Full Time

Salary: $128,030.56 - $130,582.90 base salary per annum

About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Registered Nurse to work as a Nurse Educator in the Nursing Education & Development Centre at St Vincent's Hospital Sydney.

The Nurse Educator Grade 2 Mental Health works to enhance the skill and knowledge in Mental Health for Nursing and other clinical staff in the clinical environments of St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney. The Nurse Educator Grade 2 is responsible for assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of Mental Health education programs to meet the needs of staff working within clinical areas.

The Nurse Educator Grade 2 will ensure all staff have equitable access to educational support and resources to enhance their clinical competence. The role will ensure evidence based practice principles have been utilised in the development of mental health curriculum, programs, policies and procedures within the clinical environment and broader organisation.

The Nurse Educator Grade 2 is responsible for education portfolios/programs as directed by the Nurse Manager for Education and for ensuring that the education delivered is current and based on the best available evidence. The Nurse Educator Grade 2 is responsible for developing and maintaining key internal and external relationships within their portfolio. The Nurse Educator Grade 2 contributes to the development and delivery of specialty related education programs and participates in formal processes for the strategic and operational planning for the clinical service.

About you:

We are seeking a skilled and energetic Registered Nurse passionate about person-centred mental health care delivery and nursing education. We welcome applications from people with experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating education programs and a desire to teach at a postgraduate level.

Selection Criteria:

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries

2. Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professional Regulation Agency

3. Relevant post-graduate education qualifications or relevant post- graduate clinical qualifications with a Cert IV in Training and Assessment (or working towards)

4. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate education programs

5. Demonstrated knowledge of innovative educational strategies, tools and approaches including e-learning

6. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary team and demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills

7. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and demonstrated computer literacy with email and an electronic patient record system

8. Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice as a nurse educator
