Baker Assistant

Were looking for a full time Baker/Pastry Assistant, ideally with at least one year baking experience, efficiency and a positive attitude. Weekend opening availability is a must, with closing shifts weekdays.

You will be baking muffins, scones, cookies, using our recipes and working with our head baker. Preferably you have experience baking large batches using commercial equipment.

Your Responsibilities and Requirements:

Knowledgeable in both opening and closing tasks of the bakery

Maintaining inventory of both room temperature and cold case displays

Must be able to lift 50lbs, intake orders, rotate dry inventory

Must work hand and hand with head baker to determine day to day tasks with efficiency and speed

Must be open to working with the customer base, helping on counter when required, aiding in front of house tasks when needed

Must have attention to detail, organizational skills and passion to learn and excel

Must be punctual, positive and reliable

Must also be flexible to be able to work additional hours during Holidays and long weekendsYou will be on an hourly rate starting at $16 + tips. We encourage a healthy work-life balance. Shifts are between 5.5 - 8hrs and no more than 37 p/wk. All employees enjoy a 30% storewide discount, free meals during your shift and free coffee's all the time. Village Grocery and Refillery is a specialty grocery store located in mid-downtown Kingston NY. As well as selling local groceries, we also have a bakery, cafe and full service kitchen. We have a strong focus on using local fresh ingredients as well as keeping our carbon footprint low by composting, using less plastic, and no food wastage.
