Overview
Location: Divisional Headquarters, Finance Department (Hartford, CT)
Status: Non-exempt, Full-time
Hours Per Week: 37.5
Schedule: Mon-Fri; 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
Scope & Purpose of Position: Process expenses into the accounting package while adhering to The Salvation Army’s accounting policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
+ Apply accounting principles and practices following standardized, well-established procedures, regulations, and guidelines.
+ Institute safeguards to ensure the integrity and maintenance of the accounting system.
+ Assist with the preparation of financial-related materials for audits.
+ Assist in month-end closing procedures.
+ Input financial-related data into computer system and maintain financial reports and records.
+ Maintain an unpaid invoice file.
+ Maintain and oversee maintenance of financial documents.
+ Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
+ Record and post expenses into the computer system.
+ Provide coverage for the Accounts Receivable Clerk.
Qualifications
+ Associate degree in accounting or realted or three years of experience preferred.
+ Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
+ Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
+ High attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
+ Should be well organized, show strong initiative, and effective follow through.
