R&D DESIGN ENGINEER

LOCATION: Warren, MI

Searching for an R&D DESIGN ENGINEER to join a growing R&D Team in Michigan in implementing new products (and updating existing products) and design guidelines into Operations via New Product Introduction (NPI) and Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes. The individual must have the desire to learn, work effectively in cross functional teams and collaborate in a professional manner with internal and external stakeholders and resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Create and maintain standard 3D models, 2D drawings and component and assembly part numbers for new standard products.

* Create, maintain and issue design standards and process specifications.

* Create item masters and bills of materials needed for launching new products and enter associated data in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system as needed.

* Create proposal, general assembly, and engineering detail drawings as needed for new product development beta site systems.

* Support activities needed to effectively launch new products.

* Lead ECO meetings and issue meeting minutes accordingly.

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams in the successful and timely completion of project tasks.

* Support R&D project engineers in the creation of detail drawings of prototype parts and assemblies as needed.

* Provide Operations product support to continuously improve processes and reduce product costs and lead times as needed.

PROFILE

* Associate or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or Electro-Mechanical Engineering

* 0-4 years of design engineering experience

* Proficient in creating 3D Part/Assembly Models and 2D detail drawings using SolidWorks

* Able to work with a sense of urgency on multiple projects concurrently in a collaborative environment with the dedication to meet scheduled deadlines.

* Knowledge of basic drafting practices with experience in creating detail drawings using Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing

* Ability to effectively communicate in English.

* Experience using ERP systems.

* Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and/or Korean is a plus.

* ~5% travel may be required.
