Responsibilities of Underwriter:

Receive customer application, quote the loan package, and complete all follow-up documentation and activities to successfully close loans

Develop and maintain a high degree of visibility for Sachem in the marketplace, including growth into new geographic markets

Underwrite and analyze property valuations and other supporting documents including appraisals, BPOs, title reports, etc.

Analyze detailed financial and credit data, matching customer needs with an appropriate loan program

Maintain relationship with the borrower throughout the life of the loan, including assistance with construction funding as applicable

Other ad hoc duties as needed

Preferred Experience of Underwriter:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in accounting, finance, real estate, or related field

Minimum 3 – 5 years of commercial lending experience or related experience in commercial real estate or other financial roles

Documented commercial and/or residential mortgage funding over the past 12 months referred primarily from established, local, external sources

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn program-specific software applications

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
