Maintenance Electrician
Successful manufacturer of specialty chemicals is in need of an experienced Maintenance Electrician to provide support to primary plant operations.
Responsibilities:
Total plant equipment coverage, including packaging lines, processing lines, drying, UPS, HVAC, energy center and warehouse support, building maintenance, electrical distribution lighting.
Assignments include: responding to equipment emergencies; performing electrical PM during operation or during periods of scheduled downtime; communicating routinely with production personnel and supervision to maintain knowledge of the latest production schedule.
Use of electrical tools and diagnostic equipment to complete electrical maintenance jobs.
Communicating potential equipment problems to production and maintenance supervisors to allow scheduling of repairs; looking for and implementing equipment and system improvements
Perform other maintenance tasks as requested by the maintenance supervisor.
Requirements:
High School graduate or equivalent
5+ years experience in production plant Maintenance as an Electrician
Experience in controls, troubleshooting electrical problems, electrical services, and knowledge of National Electrical Code.
Must possess a NJ State Electrical License
Requires working knowledge and experience with both control and power circuitry, including low (480VAC).
The ability to read and understand industrial building blueprints
Knowledge of motors and motor starters
Knowledge of VFD’s (Variable Frequency Drives) used for motors
Advanced knowledge in troubleshooting
Must stay familiar with current NEC code as well as OEM specifications and make updates/changes to equipment/facility as required (i.e. Arc Flash).
Knowledge in Backup Generator systems and Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPS)
Knowledge of basic commercial wiring methods
Ability to work off a scissor lift, aerial lift and ladder
Must be familiar with basic computer systems and be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
Must be able to operate forklift trucks, man lift equipment, and experience using tools of the trade.
Ability to maneuver and climb a ladder and work at heights up to 50 feet on occasion; as well as drop ladder into/pull out of tanks and put into position.
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Basic reading, writing, math, computer and verbal skills
Able to wear safety glasses, hearing protection, full face/half mask respirator, latex gloves, Tyvek suit and other safety equipment as needed
Advanced use of tools and equipment
Knowledge of occupational hazards of the electrical trade and the necessary safety precautions
Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and concepts
Knowledge of NEC and electrical components and devices
Skill in the use and care of tools and equipment of the electrical trade
Must maintain good manual dexterity
