PA - RN First Assist - Days - TUH

Hours: Monday - Friday, 7a-3:30p

Call requirement - Every 3rd weekend call rotation (Friday 1530 to Monday 0700), weeknight call TBD

Looking for experienced and highly skilled RNFA with strong background in Cardiovascular Surgery and Heart and Lung Transplantation. Must have excellent endoscopic vessel harvesting expertise.

Job Summary:

Performs role of surgical assistant for a variety of surgical procedures under direct supervision of attending surgeon. Performs role of circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse when required. Assesses patient status, maintains a save care environment, manages equipment use and delegates/directs care provided by Surgical Technologists and other support personnel.

Responsibilities include:

Collaborate with the cardiovascular surgery team to provide high-quality patient care

Assist in a variety of cardiovascular surgical procedures, including CABG, Aortic Reconstruction, complex valve surgery, Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy, Ross Procedure, ECMO, vascular access, sternal closure, etc.

Utilize excellent endoscopic vessel harvesting expertise to enhance surgical outcomes

Comfortable operating within an academic-style cardiac program

Uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and clinical excellence

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree: Nursing (Required)

Graduate of accredited school of Nursing; successful completion of additional educational preparation specific to the role of RNFA including supervised clinical component (Required)

Three (3) years experience in Cardiovascular Surgery and Heart/Lung Transplantation (Required)

General Experience demonstrating skills in intraoperative nursing behaviors - handling tissue, using instruments, providing exposure, providing hemostasis (Required)

BLS - must be AHA (Required)

CNOR - Certified Nurse Operating Room (Required)

RN-LIC - Registered Nurse License (Required)

ACLS (Preferred)

CFA - Certified First Assistant (Preferred)
