POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Data Entry/MIS Paraprofessional
DIVISION: Educational Services DEPARTMENT: Special Education
DAYS SCHEDULED: 220 Days Annualized
SALARY SCHEDULE: CLAS Range F, starting $18.54/hr
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
Special Education Technology Specialist
I. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Supports Special Education Administrators as a point of contact regarding district-wide student information and data.
Assists in maintenance of Special Education databases, related student tracking software and accompanying procedures.
Audits special education student paperwork (IEPs and related documentation) for selected areas or programs of the district.
Enters appropriate data into Special Education databases for selected areas or programs of the district. Provides direction
to teachers on paperwork procedures. Assists in updating the student database over the summer in preparation for movement
to new schools, teachers, and related service providers.
II. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Responsible for assisting in maintaining data used for providing special education
student data to the Director of Special Education and/or other district-wide
administrators.
B. Be familiar with/answer questions on Special Education computer operations and
software usage (Form filling programs, PC Database programs, District Network
Database programs).
C. Answer special education teacher questions regarding the completion of IEP and related
document procedures.
D. Participate in training for special education teachers on IEP and related forms and
procedures.
E. Audit student IEPs and related documents for procedural accuracy and return
any errors.
F. Assist in entering student data from IEPs and related documents into a district-wide
database along with corrective feedback to teachers or related service providers.
G. Assist administrators in student data analysis.
H. Assist in preparing student database for district-wide special education and general
education counts (Sept. 20; Dec. 1, June 30).
I. Monitor district student database for accuracy and make corrections as necessary.
J. Assist special education technology specialist in communication with Kansas State
Department of Education-Student Support Services-Student Data staff.
K. Complete all other tasks assigned by the Director of Special Education.
III. TRAINING, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A. High school diploma.
B. Experience with PC (or Network) database programs.
C. Experience with Windows and word processing and spreadsheet programs.
D. Ability to provide corrective feedback in appropriate manner.
E. Ability to work in a team environment.
F. Must possess valid motor vehicle operator's license and be able to provide their own
transportation to school work sites.
G. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
H. Preferable to have experience working with training of adults or customer service.
