position reports to and assists the Accounting Manager.

The Staff Accountant must exhibit a high level of professionalism and confidentiality at all times, as well as provide excellent customer service to our internal and external customers.

The key accounting functions of the position include journal entry preparation, month end close, financial statement analysis, and account reconciliations.

The Staff Accountant must be able to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines and have good communication skills.

Responsibilities and Duties * Assists with month-end, quarterly and year-end close processes and meet all deadlines.

* Analyze; review financial statements for accuracy of profit and loss and balance sheet statements for multiple branches.

* Make recommendations on areas of risk and opportunities where required.

* Reconcile various balance sheet accounts and research/resolve reconciling items.

* Prepare standard general ledger, accrual, and allocation journal entries.

* Research and provide explanations for variances and fluctuations in general ledger accounts.

Month over Month and Year over Year, budget to actual analysis.

* Identify and implement recommendations to improve accounting processes and procedures.

* Review and Approve Post- Close and Audit check requests.

* Track/reconcile escrow holdbacks and disburse holdbacks.

* Prepare intercompany journal entries for other entities.

* Handles annual renew of certificate of insurance for all branches.

* Prepare wire transfer for pair offs and construction loans.

* Prepares allocation journal entries for certain vendors.

* Reconcile out of balance loan boarding outages and prepare journal entries.

* Assists in the posting of deposits, cash receipts and journal entries.

* Cross train and support the accounts payable team.

* Assist with internal/external audit request.

Education, Knowledge, Experience * Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field * Minimum of 3 years accounting experience * Solid knowledge of accounting principles including accruals, Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss Statements * Mortgage experience preferred but not required Skills * Strong, meticulous attention to detail, ensuring quality work, free of errors.

* Analytical thinker and consultative mind to support both team members and managers in all areas of the business.

* Ability to review, analyze and interpret information as well as trouble-shoot to solve problems.

* Well-developed understanding on financial functions within the company and its branches.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with solid computer skills.

* Goal-oriented, self-motivated with the capacity to meet and exceed assigned goals.

* Willing to learn, industrious, determined, and assertive.

* Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask to complete a wide variety of tasks.

* Strong people skills with ability to interact with all internal teams and external customers.

* Must be able to maintain sensitive and confidential information.

* Diligence to ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and on time.

* Must be proficient in Excel- manipulate large files and run queries.

* Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

* Ability to take initiative with or without little direction to complete tasks.

* Ability to understand and apply accounting procedures.

* Ability to meet critical deadlines.
