DEPARTMENT Department: Labor Relations JOB DESCRIPTION Labor Relations Consultant Salary Grade: G06 Minimum Midpoint Maximum $74,796 - $100,975 - $127,152 SUMMARY: Under general supervision supports constructive labor relations with effective consulting, analysis, and systems support to Labor Relations staff, operations management and Human Resources Business Partners for labor contract administration, grievance handling, arbitrations, collective bargaining, and NLRB charges.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains effective business relationships with unions, legal counsel, and utility industry labor relations contacts Represents and advises operations management regarding labor contract administration, grievances and employee discipline Investigates and coordinates with legal counsel and/or operations management concerning grievances, unfair labor practice charges and other labor relations contractual or legal matters Assists with Collecting and analyzing data from internal and external sources related to grievances, arbitrations, negotiations, unfair labor practice charges, union requests for information and other labor relations matters Reports findings and makes recommendations for labor relations management decisions and actions.

Prepares arbitrations and planning for negotiations.

May participate in labor contract negotiations Conducts and responds to labor relations surveys among electric utility labor relations organizations, e.g., PUEI and EEI Interacts and maintains effective business relationships with union officials, government representatives, legal counsel, and utility industry labor relations contacts Develops, prepares and conducts labor relations management training Participates as company representative in meetings, surveys and other networking activities sponsored by Public Utility Employers Institute (PUEI), Edison Electrical Institute (EEI), and other utility industry groups May act as lead on special projects and other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned COMPETENCIES: Strong skills in oral and written communication, research and data collection, and investigation and analysis of complex issues In-depth knowledge of Company policies and external laws and regulations relating to human resources issues, programs, and practices QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with five to seven years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY: Investigates, interprets, analyzes and advises operations management concerning labor contract issues, employee discipline, application of labor laws and other potential areas of labor conflict.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Working knowledge of database software; Human Resource systems; spreadsheet software and word processing software PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit up to 2/3 of the time.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office environment.
