Mechanic - BONUS

$3,000 BONUS $1,500 ON FIRST CHECK AND $1,500 AFTER 120-DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT We are looking for a Mechanic to join the City of Charleston's Public Service Department!

In this role, you will perform a variety of highly skilled duties to maintain and/or repair the property of the City using a variety of machines, tools, and equipment.

* Maintains and repairs City vehicles and diesel equipment including garbage trucks, sweepers, scows, dump trucks, vans, pick-up trucks, sedans, boats, motorcycles, and/or and various construction equipment.

* Diagnoses and repairs the following vehicles components; air conditioning, engine performance air/hydraulic systems, driveline systems, emission systems, etc.

* Performs minor fabrication and welding as necessary.

* Assists other technicians.

* Picks up or delivers vehicles and equipment when necessary.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

* High School Diploma or equivalent and four years of related experience with Technical School Training preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Valid state issued driver's license.

* Ability to obtain Valid Commercial Driver's Permit - Class B within 3 months of hire., and Valid Commercial Driver's License - Class B within 1 year of hire.

* Dealership or heavy truck shop experience.
