Job Title: IMAM Pastoral Care
Location: The work shall be performed at Walter Reed National Military
Medical Center (WRNMMC), Bethesda, 20814, MD.
Duties:
Ordained IMAM to provide Islamic worship services, Counseling, and Emergency ministrations.
The Applicant shall provide emergency coverage as needed for Muslim patients.
The Applicant shall plan, coordinate, and provide weekly Salatu-Jama-ah (Congregational Prayer).
The Applicant shall provide additional Islamic ceremonies and services, such as special observances for Ramadan as directed.
The Applicant may provide up to three sessions of pastoral counseling to Muslim hospital staff members with issues of a spiritual nature. Muslim hospital staff members with issues of a non-spiritual nature shall be referred to a Military Staff Chaplain. The Applicant shall refer the staff member to another provider if the issue requires ongoing care.
The Applicant shall provide religious education about Islam as it pertains to the care of Muslim patients for hospital staff as directed.
The Applicant shall perform administrative work to coordinate ceremonies and services in coordination with the staff action officer as directed.
Qualification:
The Applicant shall have a master’s degree from a graduate school accredited by the
American Council on Education or foreign equivalent, in one of the following areas: Islamic studies, counseling, psychology, social work, or the equivalent.
The Applicant shall be endorsed by an endorsing agent recognized by the Armed Forces
Chaplains Board.
The Applicant shall be experienced in providing pastoral care to patients, their family
members, and visitors.
The Applicant shall have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Islamic pastoral
ministry.
The Applicant shall have experience working in a religiously pluralistic organization.
