PRIMARY FUNCTION AND RELATIONSHIP TO TOTAL ORGANIZATION

Serve as the primary media contact for assigned sports. These sports include; Women's Basketball, Women's Volleyball and Men's and Women's Tennis.

Responsible for all facets of communications/public relations to ORU athletic events, including, but not limited to, providing in-game statistics, social media generation, content creation, fulfilling interview requests and website upkeep.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as the primary media contact for assigned sports (to be determined based on candidate's skills and background) and provide secondary support to other teams as assigned by the Assistant AD.

Oversee and perform/assign game-day operations related to media, press box, scorer's table, game statistics, online streaming, and pre/postgame press conferences for assigned sports.

Oversee maintenance of the athletic website, oruathletics.com, for assigned sports including but not limited to posting/updating schedules, rosters, student-athlete & staff bios and keeping the record book up to date.

Produce regular press releases (event previews, recaps, and other news) in order to enhance the brand and tell the stories of ORU Athletics.

Communicate and coordinate graphic/content needs with creative staff for season.

Use social media to promote individual teams and ORU Athletics as a whole.

Handle requests from outside media sources for interviews, statements, and credential distribution.

Work collaboratively with the University's public relations office when required on athletic-related news stories and events.

Will have involvement in special fundraising events such as Courtside Countdown and Diamond Dinner. Will also be involved in the annual Hall of Fame induction process.

Frequent night and weekend work is required. Travel may be required on occasion.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Completion of a bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, sport management or a related field

1-2 years previous experience in a sports information or communications setting, preferably within collegiate athletics

Excellent writing, editing and communication skills

Understanding of statistical software including NCAA Live Stats and/or Stat Crew

Proficiency in various software programs, including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and Sidearm Sports

Proven ability to handle high-stress situations and juggle multiple responsibilities

Must be accepted into Oral Roberts University as a graduate student upon selection of employment

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS :

One to Two years of sports information/public relations experience.

Familiarity and/or proficiency with using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premier Pro, etc.)

Must have a solid understanding of the benefits of social media and understanding of content creation.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and Power Point.

Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

Familiar with photography and has a basic understanding of how to properly use a camera.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Ability to make independent decisions and judgments on administrative and procedural issues.

Ability to analyze facts to determine actions to be taken within the limits of standard practice.
