Equipment Operator Senior refuse Control - Corrections refuse

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR/SR - REFUSE CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Equipment Operator, Senior/Refuse PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION Drives trucks and operates light equipment used for Refuse Control.

Performs manual labor in the completion of various County tasks.

Work is monitored while in progress and upon completion by a crew foreman.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties are normal for this position.

Other duties may be required and assigned.

Operates small or light equipment such as hand and power tools to cut trees and brush; drives flat-bed truck in collecting debris.

Cuts and mows grass; picks up litter and debris from streets and right of ways; and picks up and bags leaves.

Relocates County office furniture.

Delivers supplies for various departments; delivers mail to departments.

Supervises inmates as assigned.

Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on tools, equipment, and vehicles.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or GED supplemented by one (1) year of experience operating and driving equipment in support of maintenance projects; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

May be required to possess and maintain a valid Georgia Commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsement(s) depending on type of equipment/vehicle operated.

ADA COMPLIANCE Physical Ability: Tasks require the regular and sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that generally involves lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds). Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals.

Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, or traffic hazards.
