A/c And Refrigeration Specialist I

Performs skilled work at the journey level with installation, repair and maintenance of complex air-conditioning, heating and refrigeration equipment.

Receives assignments in the form of oral instructions/written work orders/sketches/blueprints.

Applies knowledge of related practices, materials and tools used in industrial and commercial environments.

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification, supplemented by a two (2) year technical/vocational A/C and Refrigeration program; minimum of two (2) years of experience in industrial/commercial A/C and Refrigeration OR completion of a four (4) year apprenticeship program in A/C and Refrigeration.

Necessary Special Requirement: Must obtain Universal Certification in Transition and Recovery of Refrigerants within six (6) months of hire.

PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE WITH: Building automation systems/computerized controls; troubleshooting/repairing various electrical circuits; interpreting sketches/ blueprints/schematics; sheet metal/fiberglass duct/welding/soldering work.

Also desirable: Valid Universal Certification in Transition and Recovery of Refrigerants.

Must be able to lift 75 pounds.

Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.

Respiratory screen/chest x-ray and Hearing Loss Test required for selected candidate.

Will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check in addition to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office background check prior to appointment.
