Essential Functions of the Position * Performs routine and preventive maintenance including but not limited to, oil changes and tune-ups on company vehicles, ambulances, trailers, and other motor vehicles in accordance with manufacturer or ASE standards.
* Performs necessary testing and diagnostic assessment on parts, systems, and vehicles to ensure proper functioning.
* Perform routine assessments on systems as established in departmental standards/standard operating procedures and /or departmental checklists.
* Ensure maintenance and repair schedules and production plans support the urgency of operational needs and resource deployment plans.
* Deploy to unit/vehicle locations when necessary and feasible to mitigate unit downtime.
* Properly test drive vehicle to confirm safe and proper operation.
* Accurately maintain vehicle repair and maintenance records.
* Conduct self in an ethical, professional manner; project a positive self/company/system image.
* Adhere to and enforce all safety standards and organizational policies.
* Adhere to and enforce all vehicle use and emergency vehicle operation standards and policies.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Excellent mechanical repair skills.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills * Ability to read service and repair manuals.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Must be able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
* Must be able to work independently with little supervision to meet the goals of the department.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; skill in working in an environment subject to constant interruptions and quickly changing priorities; ability to prioritize responsibilities when necessary; effective time-management skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities * No direct supervisory responsibilities but will manage projects and activities as directed.
Physical Demands * Required to walk, sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel and crawl and move about the property for periods of time.
* Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull up to 150 lbs.
Work Environment * Work performed in a fleet setting.
* Some exposure to external environmental conditions, such as heat, cold, rain, snow and ice.
* Noise level can range from minimal to intense.
Minimum Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent required.
* Vocational/Technical school program or apprenticeship in auto repair or related field required.
* Two years of related experience with Ford and Chevy diesel engine diagnosis and repair preferred.
* Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen, safety sensitive position.
