Your Opportunity Stantec's Chattanooga, TN office is seeking a senior-level environmental compliance strategist and regulatory specialist to support our growing water resources management practice.

We are looking for an experienced environmental professional to help our federal, state, and local clients develop strategies for successful project- and program-level environmental review, identify solutions to regulatory needs, lead and manage environmental analyses and documentation, and support consultation and permitting efforts.

Would you like to work as part of our collaborative, multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and other water professionals to help advance some of the State's most challenging water and natural resource projects and programs?

Your Key Responsibilities * Act as a strategic advisor to our teams and clients, providing guidance on how to approach, streamline, and effectively implement environmental review and navigate regulatory compliance for a variety of projects, including coal ash management, groundwater monitoring and corrective action, water infrastructure (dams, pipeline, canals and channels, treatment facilities), water and natural resource policies, and large-scale environmental restoration, water supply, and flood management planning efforts.

* Oversee teams preparing high-quality environmental compliance documents that meet applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

* Stay up to date on current and proposed legislation, court rulings, and other regulatory trends; evaluate their impact on clients and their water and natural resource projects and programs; and communicate these changes to clients and staff.

* Experience communicating with and/or initiating consultation with state and/or federal resource agency staff.

* Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including ability to convey complex technical and regulatory issues to a variety of audiences.

Experience working with stakeholders, the environmental community, and the public preferred.

* A strong reputation in the power and water industry and with strategic clients and teaming partners.

* A proven problem solver with a collaborative attitude.

Education and Experience * BA/BS, MA/MS, JD, or Ph.D.

in Environmental Studies, Environmental, or Biological Sciences; Policy and Law; or other natural or physical sciences from an accredited college or university.

* At least 20 years of relevant experience with increasing responsibilities for pursuing and executing complex water and natural resource projects.

* Expertise in environmental compliance strategy, including identifying, evaluating, and solving compliance and regulatory challenges.

* Experience planning, leading, writing, and reviewing complex environmental documents, including managing multidisciplinary production teams comprised of Stantec and subconsultant staff.

Majority of time spent in office environment with prolonged sitting and computer work, or combination of office and field.
