As a Regional Compliance Consultant, you will have the primary responsibility of supporting our central region field office colleagues with employee benefit compliance education and assistance, and work with clients as necessary to answer their benefits compliance questions and concerns.

The successful candidate will be able to juggle priorities, understand federal regulations and legislation, communicate complex issues in easy to understand written documents and orally (telephone, Zoom, in-person once resumed) and work with the rest of the compliance team to create cutting edge compliance deliverables and education for both colleagues and clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES Advisory and Communication: * Provide compliance related services to Alera Group clients, including in person presentations and consultations to all firms within assigned region or regions * Respond to queries from consultants, clients and plan members with respect to plan provisions and appropriately resolve/escalate any problems or issues * Assist VP of Compliance determine most critical topics for benefit related communications, including white papers, flow charts, or newsletter articles * Reviews and oversees creation plug and play employee benefits audit checklists and preparation materials * Upon request, draft and prepare educational materials relating to employee benefit compliance topics, including webinar slides, presentations, and scripts for educational recordings (such as podcasts) * Investigate, analyze, and provide recommendations on benefit and compliance issues for Alera Group clients * Collaborate with the VP of Compliance, Employee Benefits, on plan compliance and regulatory matters impacting benefits * Collaborate and partner with Alera Group staff to ensure consistency and uniformity in materials, responses to questions, and interpretations Operations: * Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibilities and requirements of the job Team Support: * Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams * Demonstrate effective communication when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels * Deliver work in accordance to project deadlines QUALIFICATIONS Requirements: * Working knowledge of IRS code Sec 125, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, and Benefit Plan regulations * Strong presentation skills, ability to distill large amounts of information into concise messages for clients * Juris Doctorate (JD) * At least 3-5 years of experience in employee benefits compliance * Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and periodicals Skills: * Sense of urgency to manage work within tight timeframes * Proficiency in Microsoft Office products * Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously * Ability to work as a contributing member of a team * Excellent communication skills, both written and oral * Fine attention to detail This role will service Alera Group's Northeast region - New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachchusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine The consultant should reside within this general geographic area with the ability to travel to Alera Group offices within the region as needed.
