About this position
This position is responsible for preparing food for an agency child care program.
What you'll be doing
Following basic health standards with regard to the handling of food;
Maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment;
Following the established menu and portion sizes;
Properly storing food items, dishes, and utensils to maintain sanitary conditions;
Completing basic food program documentation;
Preparing food as required by the menu: slicing, mixing, warming, etc.;
Placing food in serving dishes appropriate for each classroom;
Washing and sanitizing cooking and serving dishes;
Working effectively with team members;
Reading and implementing all agency and program policies and procedures;
Accurately completing all assigned paperwork and documentation, on a timely basis, according to agency policies and procedures;
Actively participating in in-service training;
Using sensitivity and good judgment when interacting with children, parents and staff.
What you bring to the table
Ability to organize work schedule for maximum use of time;
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds;
Experience preparing food for group meals;
Ability to correctly and effectively communicate in written and oral English.

Job specifications
Reports to the education manager of Head Start Pasadena;
Twelve-month approximate work year;
Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required;
Employment, responsibilities, compensation, or any other factor may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the Agency's contracts, or at Agency discretion.
Salary
$20.23 - $21.24 per hour
