Location:Horsham, PA

Salary: $18-24/hr

Overview:We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Support Assistant/Clerk to join our team at a federal government healthcare facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support and assistance to medical staff, ensuring smooth operations within the medical department.

Responsibilities:

Schedule patient appointments, consultations, and follow-up visits using electronic scheduling systems.

Greet patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and courteous manner, providing assistance and direction as needed.

Maintain patient medical records and ensure accuracy and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

Verify patient demographic information and insurance coverage, collecting necessary co-pays or fees as required.

Assist medical staff with patient intake processes, including obtaining vital signs and updating medical history forms.

Coordinate medical referrals and obtain necessary authorizations from insurance providers or government agencies.

Prepare and process medical correspondence, reports, and forms according to established procedures.

Maintain inventory of medical and office supplies, ordering additional supplies as needed and ensuring proper storage and organization.

Assist with the maintenance and cleanliness of the medical office and examination rooms, including sterilization of equipment and disposal of hazardous materials.

Provide general clerical support, including answering phones, responding to inquiries, and directing messages to appropriate personnel.

Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and administrative staff to ensure efficient workflow and quality patient care.

Adhere to all federal regulations, policies, and procedures governing healthcare administration and patient confidentiality.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in medical assisting or healthcare administration preferred.

Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting, preferably in a clerical or administrative role.

Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other office software applications.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, staff, and external contacts.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and insurance billing practices preferred.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA regulations.

Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules, including occasional evening or weekend shifts as needed.
