JOB SUMMARY: Performs complex electrical work on campus primary electrical distribution systems requiring professional skill and technical knowledge of medium voltage systems.

Responsible for inspections, maintenance, repairs, and new construction to the campus primary electrical distribution system, campus site lighting systems, utility plant electrical systems, and campus traffic signals.

Provides underground utility locating services.

Works 40 hours per week, subject to unscheduled time and callbacks.

Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES: 30% - Essential - Medium Voltage Distribution System Electrician: Performs predictive and preventative maintenance, inspection, repair, locating, and utility construction associated with campus primary electrical distribution systems (12470V/4160V). Operates and monitors control systems and alarms.

Safely operates heavy equipment associated with installation and repair including trenchers, backhoes, telehandlers, digger derricks, and bucket trucks.

Provides equipment inspection and installation updates to the GIS database.

Estimates cost, time and materials for projects.

May assign work tasks to ensure adequate workflow.

30% - Essential - Maintain and Update Campus Site Lighting: Perform maintenance, repair and installation of campus site lighting, underground wiring and lighting control systems for walkways, streets, parking lots and other outdoor areas.

Update and replace existing lighting systems with higher quality and more energy efficient fixtures as directed.

Provides equipment inspection and installation updates to the GIS database.

Set up and operate special power and lighting systems required for campus functions.

15% - Essential - Electrical Utility Plant Maintenance: Maintain, repair, and replace electrical equipment and apparatus including, but not limited to, single and three phase motors, starters, generators, fused and non-fused disconnect switches, circuit breakers, and transformers.

Read, understand plans/specifications and apply them to work in the field.

Layout and install electrical conduit systems consisting of rigid steel, electrical metallic tubing, plastic ducting and prefabricated bus duct.

15% - Essential - Traffic Signal Maintenance and Repair: Perform maintenance, repair, and installation of campus traffic signal systems including control cabinets, signal heads, vehicle detection systems, pedestrian push buttons, and signage.

10% - Essential - Safety, Training, and Mentorship: Promotes a safe workplace and safe work practices at all times.

Complies with all applicable OSHA safety mandates and enforcement of University LOTO policy.

Complies with all NEC and NESC rules and regulations, completing all relevant training.

Promotes positive and productive relationships within and between shops.

Leads, guides, and/or trains other electricians in applicable procedures and techniques.

Completes the required training and testing to maintain applicable licensing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education - High School diploma or Equivalent and experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems.

Licenses / Certifications: - Driver's License Class A CDL; Masters Electrical Certification or Class A Lineman Certification.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Education - Associate's Degree - or Equivalent or higher work experience with certifications; Technical Trade School - Industrial Electrician or Utility Line Worker; Work Experience: 7+ years of Utility Line Worker or Industrial Electrician Skills at Journeyman level with 2 years of crew supervisory experience.

Standard Hours: 40 Expected Salary Range: $ 60,690.50 - $84,241.00 ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL Essential Level 2 employee Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume.

Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
