Description:

Residential and Shelter Staff work at our housing and shelter sites and provide critical support and play an important role in the care of our homeless and formerly homeless populations.

Note: Hired staff must be able to work on a day on each weekend as part of their regular shift.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

RESIDENTIAL AIDE (Supportive Housing Sites)

Monitor the self-administration of medications.

Assist the Case Manager in arranging for residents' participation in programs supporting their mental, physical and spiritual recovery.

Coach residents in fulfilling plans for assisted daily living.

Participate in house and floor community meetings.

Oversee the cleanliness of the residents' rooms.

Follow through on the house chore list and perform housekeeping duties as necessary.

Collaborate with members of the house team and demonstrate excellent attention to detail.

Maintain an accurate and timely log.

SHELTER STAFF (Shelter Sites)

Assist guests as needed and required.

Monitor site for safety and security.

Assist with each meal.

Monitor administration of guests' medications.

Notify immediate supervisor of any emergencies.

Review and complete Logbook(s) each shift.

Alert supervisor or other designated staff of any changes throughout the shift.

Notify staff of any issues with shelter guests, including hospitalizations, etc.

Complete incident reports and consult with Supervisor about any issues.

Skill/Educational Requirements

High school diploma with MH/D&A experience.

Basic to intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel, Internet and E-Mail).

Strong interpersonal and organizational communication skills.

Team-oriented disposition.

Knowledge of safe behavioral management techniques.

Physical Requirements:

Requires repetitive movement of hands and fingers for typing and/or writing. Ability to communicate and exchange information. Frequent standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching and lifting up to 35lbs. Ability to reach with hands and arms and perform audio and visual assessments, as required.
