Title: Business Services Representative (Luzerne County)
Classification: Non-Exempt
Scope of Position:
Serve as a representative for all business services offered at the PA CareerLink® offices in Luzerne County. Work with employers to promote job leads and match program participants to employers’ job openings and paid work experience opportunities.
Concentrate on serving various populations including youth, young adults, dislocated workers, low-income adults and re-entrants. Placing individuals into full-time and life-sustaining employment once job-ready, as well as the Paid Work Experience component, which entails recruiting and cultivating relationships with employers to identify them as worksites, participant matching to worksites, job coaching of participants, and monitoring of paid work experience placements
Provide one-on-one and group assistance to program participants. This may include providing job leads, advocating to employers, resume building and critique, facilitating workshops and activities, and other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Develop and build on relationships with Luzerne County employers by learning their hiring needs and challenges, and connecting employers with the appropriate resources
Knowledgeable on all services provided by the Business Services Team, including, but not limited to, On-the-Job Training, Paid Work Experience, Recruitment Events, and Job Fairs
Conduct outreach to Luzerne County employers through strategic cold calling and out-of-office visits
Provide timely follow-up to employers utilizing our services and document accordingly
Track all communication with employers and participants in appropriate databases and provide reports as needed
Assist in the planning and promotion of events
Participate in offsite events, such as job fairs and employer focus groups
Assist in CWDS/PA CareerLink® website maintenance including, but not limited to, posting job descriptions, job posting approvals/rejections, verifying new company profiles and contacts, and responding to job posting assistance and website support requests
Communicate new job openings to the Business Services Team, Career Navigators and CareerLink® partners
Meet with assigned participants regularly to review career goals and provide job leads
Match participants with job openings
Act as a liaison between program participants and Career Navigators and communicate with Career Navigators to ensure referrals are being matched to employers’ need.
Recruit and build relationships with community-based organizations and local employers in an effort to identify them as worksites/partners for paid (by our organization) work experience opportunities for youth
With the goal of connecting youth to full-time employment and meaningful short-term paid work experience opportunities, work one-on-one with youth and their families to provide employer matching, basic career readiness activities, barrier remediation, job coaching, and continued follow-up and support while placed at a worksite
Continue to monitor youth’s progress in paid work experience opportunity including but not limited to site visits, picking up timecards, following up with worksite supervisor and remediating as needed based on worksite feedback
Travel within Luzerne County to conduct employer/worksite meetings, cultivate partner relationships, facilitate various participant and worksite evaluations, and conduct worksite inspections and visits as well as pick up timesheetsAssist with special projects and events as assigned to support EDSI

Education and Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Prior experience in sales, a customer contact job and/or customer service
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, other computer programs and data entry
Experience in a team-oriented environment
Ability to converse with a wide range of professionals and demonstrate a positive professional attitude; excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to gather and synthesize information from a wide variety of people and sources
Access to reliable transportation, valid Class C License with acceptable auto insurance, and ability and willingness to travel within Luzerne County
Solid organizational and time management skills
Detail oriented and accurate with deadline sensitive goals and objectives
Above-average interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to deal with difficult customers and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to maintain some level of flexibility as needs of contract or contractor require

Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in business, communication, education, human services or related area is strongly preferred
Experience conducting Workshops/Orientations and/or public speaking
Knowledge of community employers and community partners
Experience working with unemployed, underemployed, displaced workers, noncustodial parents, ex-offenders, veterans, individuals with barriers or other economically-disadvantaged populations
