Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This is work of routine difficulty responsible for cleaning Authority buildings and grounds, moving office furniture, and in related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position would normally be gained through the equivalent of a high school diploma and at least one year of manual labor experience relating to the duties of the Custodian position.

Skill in maintenance, repair and minor installation of electrical systems, emergency lighting, electrical control systems and all types of electrical fixtures and equipment.

Skilled in cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing the stairways, corridors, lobbies, restrooms, laundry rooms and elevators as scheduled in buildings to which he/she is assigned.

Ability to perform custodial duties related to preparation of vacant apartments for rental.

Skilled, in developments with compactors, the incumbent shall be trained in the operation of compactors and will be responsible for the daily operation and cleaning of the compactor area.

Ability to make all necessary electric lighting replacements in public areas and clean all tiled areas as required.

Responsible for reporting to the supervisor all items in the building which require maintenance repair such as: elevators, doors, windows, railings, etc.

Ability to keep the areas free of debris around trash containers, and throughout the development.

Skilled in snow removal and grass cutting duties whenever necessary.

Incumbent may be called back to work after regular working hours in the event of an emergency.

Ability to stand and walk for long periods and lift and move over 50 pounds.

Skilled in operating equipment such as commercial vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleaners.

Good time management, organizational, multitasking, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work with minimum supervision.

Must have and maintain a current driver's license and be insurable under the Authority's automobile insurance.
