JOB SUMMARY:
The MRI Technologist operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners to create diagnostic images using strong magnetic fields and radio waves. The MRI Technologist is a trained Radiologic Technologist who performs MRI imaging procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent
Graduated from a AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology Experience: Minimum of six (6) months experience as a Radiologic Technologist
Licensure: Current Florida state license as a General Radiographer RT (required)- MR (preferred) (MR certification within 1 year of hire required) Registration: Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification: ARRT- (R) or (R)(MR) BLS/CPR certification required within 30 days of employment
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTONS:
Performs MRI imaging procedures in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the individual site radiologist
Monitors the patient's condition before and after the scan to ensure patient safety
and comfort
Completes and signs patient screening forms and explains testing procedures to patient
Positions and instructs the patient about the preparation for the MRI test
Completes all exams in a timely manner, maintains work flow, and minimizes table time
Knowledge of cross- sectional anatomy of the head, thorax and abdomen, physiology, and MRI terminology, practices and procedures
Be familiar with the specific MRI coding systems
Responsible in enforcing magnetic field safety for MRI patients, operator, and visitors and complies with all safety policies and regulations
Maintains patient log, equipment service log, delivery schedule log(s) and other related statistics
Maintains current permits to practice in all states in which services are performed
Maintains a clean environment inside & outside of the mobile facility
Performs QA/QC on magnet within ACR guidelines
Calls for service and notifies pertinent team members
Performs other duties as assigned
