The Senior Accountant will assist the Accounting Manager in the daily operations of the Accounting department for the Tarkett North American Shared Service Organization. This role will assist with the accounting and consolidation processes as well as internal and external audits. This position will also help with ensuring and analyzing accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards defined within the department. The Senior Accountant will interface with accounting personnel and functional leaders to provide accurate timely reporting and analysis of financial information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with completion of the month-end close processes including consolidation and maintenance of closing files, including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and support schedules
Maintain BlackLine (cloud-based software designed to automate and control the entire financial close process)
Create and maintain BlackLine reporting dashboards
Oversight and control of the intercompany billing processes
Responsible for monitoring SAP for intercompany process errors and seeking resolution
Calculate and perform journal entries for assigned reserves.
Review credit card purchases for proper account assignment and ensure compliance with internal controls
Perform AP/AR intercompany balance reconciliation for reporting purposes
Assist with entering and maintaining group financial reporting
Assist with activities for internal and external audits by requesting information and documentation and compiling it to present
Help maintain accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies
Help drive accounting projects and initiations with other members of the finance team
Assist in developing continuous improvement in the accounting and finance
Create ad hoc reports/analysis as requested
Other duties as assigned by Accounting Manager
REQUIREMENTS (to include educational requirements):
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA is Preferred
4+ years of progressively responsible experience in financial accounting with a medium sized or larger company
Previous experience in a Shared Service environment preferred
SAP experience highly preferred; Understanding of integrated business systems
Ability to drive process improvements and manage multiple projects based on timelines and deadlines
Self-starter with ability to work independently, with little direct supervision, to accomplish aggressive objectives and timelines
Advanced MS Excel skills
Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Working knowledge of IFRS
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Attention to detail, organized and thorough with desire for continuous improvement
Strong analytical and accounting skills
