Packaging Supervisor, Full-Time, 3rd Shift

Accupac is looking for a Packaging Supervisor to join our 3rd shift team at our Mainland, PA location.

Basic Job Functions:

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of all activities on the production floor while assuring employee safety, quality standards and adherence to established Good Manufacturing Practices, SOP’s and the production schedule.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Assign packaging departmental employees to their respective packaging lines or tasks each day based on the weekly production schedules.

Assure that each packaging employee is performing to the expectations of his or her job.

Coordinate activities and assist in setting priorities of mechanics, and warehouse material handlers to keep the production lines running efficiently and consistently.

Communicate all packaging activities with the Lead QA Inspector so that proper QA support is available.

Enforce safety procedures in all areas of the packaging floor by providing training, conducting audits, and correcting unsafe situations.

Ensure Packaging Department employees’ adherence to product specifications, Accupac SOP’s, cGMP’s and company policies.

Ensure that correct manning and line speeds are in place.

Create and issue required packaging paperwork to line leaders and audit it daily for completeness and accuracy.

Verify that all packaging documentation is correct and coordinate it with QA 2nd verification.

Apprise the Packaging and Human Resource Manager of employee issues.

Adhere to company procedures regarding disciplinary action and employee terminations.

Review packaging employees’ work hours weekly and approve any overtime.

Prepare and submit appropriate employee evaluations to Packaging Manager. Upon receipt of approval, conducts annual reviews with Packaging Departmental personnel.

Record brief summary of each shift in the Packaging Supervisor’s Log.

Prepare for the new shift by reviewing all new entries to the log, packaging line status and issues with the current shift Supervisor.

Participate in corporate and departmental meetings as requested.

Conduct routine meetings with departmental employee groups to provide guidance and to review problems, new procedures and customer issues.

Provide training to all departmental employees following prescribed procedures.

Participate in the interviewing and selection of departmental employees.

Interact with customers during line tests, new product start-ups and routine customer line inspections.

Communicate nonconformance information to the Packaging Manager and QA group and document it appropriately.

Coordinate sanitizations appropriately.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements of the Job:

Fluency in written and spoken English

The ability to remain professional when negotiating conflicts that arise on the factory floor.

Strong interpersonal skills

The ability to coordinate many activities simultaneously

The ability to troubleshoot problems as they occur

Work effectively in high pressure situations

Communicate with employees who are not well versed in the English language

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, push and palletize boxes of finished product, as needed

Stand on concrete floors for full shift

Ability to hear speech and/or alarms through plant noise

Peripheral vision

Stamina to walk quickly for full shift

Ability to work overtime as needed to meet production schedule

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes

Travel: None

Education and/or Experience: Must have a high school diploma or GED. Prefer previous experience working in a manufacturing environment and working with packaging equipment.
