In 2023, Southern Champion Tray opened greenfield manufacturing site with a brand new team to support Making Every Interaction Effortless for our Customers. This site is focused on SCT’s High Speed / High Volume items and has installed new equipment and automation to help ensure the company continues to provide distinctive service to our customers.

This opportunity is for a highly motivated individual to join a 1-year old team that must define the operating rules and plans for a semi-automated facility. This job requires someone who is ready to enter a fast-paced team with great attention to detail and can manage changing priorities. The opportunity is for someone to get on the ground floor and continue building the processes and culture of a new team.

This job will own the technical expertise needed for SCT to be successful and deployment of training for the equipment found on-site. This position is critical to the plants overall success.

Job Responsibilities:

Functions as the in-house expert for all equipment knowledge and trouble-shooting for production

Drives high quality standards documentation around standard set-ups and equips the production team to succeed

Position lives on the production floor and primary customers include members of the production team

Improves working conditions, safety, and productivity through proactive coaching and training sessions

Works to identify best practices for set-ups and runs across equipment and item families

Works to serve needs of plant supervision team by supporting people, training, and trouble-shooting as identified

Ability to solve complex technical issues with only high level direction

Act as technical resource to support operations and maintenance teams to ensure optimal production and setups moving forward

Act as functional technical expert for web cutters and gluers for SCT and with communications with OEMs

Owns all current and new automation projects within operations to ensure a timely delivery with Corporate Engineering

Creates training modules for equipment within the Microsoft HoloLens environment

Creates standard documentation and one-point lessons as needed for Production

Qualifications

5+ years hands working on mechanical equipment

Curiosity around what makes equipment run well

Clear Communicator that can get technical details across simply

Preferred Qualifications

Proven trajectory of learning the details of equipment and then building standards to what was learned

Solid Working Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement

Bachelors in Engineering or another related field or related experience

Extensive experience (10+ years) in a hands-on experience as a manufacturing operator

Extensive experience running a folder-gluer
