Electrical Design Engineer

Job Description

Duties/Responsibilities:

Design electronic circuits for aviation computers and supporting systems such as test equipment and harnesses

Create Statements of Work for contracted services, such as board layout and manage the contractor throughout the project

Evaluate design choices to meet product functional requirements, environmental compatibility, and manufacturing lifecycle, creating reports and other documentation supporting design choices

Create test procedures and reports for electronic hardware

Provide engineering insight to Program management, sales, and marketing for new business proposals and customer support

Supporting manufacturing and repair departments for legacy products

Utilize standard electrical laboratory equipment to verify, debug, and rework electronic circuits

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

2 years plus experience with comparable responsibilities

Digital design in the hundreds of MHz with ARM Cortex or similar complexity microcontrollers

Basic analog circuit design

Experience with design for Electro-Magnetic Compatibility for susceptibility and emissions

Experience in the following topics is desirable but not required:

Schematic Capture and PCB layout with Altium Designer

Designing safety critical electrical systems

Designing to RTCA DO-160G, MIL-STD-810H, MIL-STD-704F, MIL-STD-461G, and similar qualification standards

Bare-metal embedded C to support software engineers in driver development

Python, Excel, and similar analysis tools

Subversion and similar version control tools

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited school
