Description

As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing primary and secondary structures and systems, while working closely with a fast-paced, agile team that strives to make a high-performance spacecraft from a clean sheet design.

Responsibilities

Design and packaging of primary and secondary structures and systems

Analyze loads and environments to develop efficient structures and load paths

Determine appropriate materials for designs

Perform hand calculations to determine appropriate member sizes

Produce engineering drawings with required specifications for manufacturing

Update designs and documentation as required

Work with in-house manufacturing group and external suppliers to produce designs

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors' degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering

8+ years of demonstrated experience in mechanical design

Proficiency with CAD software and the ability to learn new tools

Familiarity with a wide set of manufacturing processes such as machining, additive, welding, forming, and composite construction

Demonstrated ability to apply dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

Demonstrated experience working collaboratively across teams

Ability to communicate technical challenges, explain rationale and/or resolve concerns

Preferred Skills and Experience

Creative design solutions to complex problems

Experience with both metallic and composite structures

Ability to work with complex assemblies

Experience with Siemens NX

Prior experience with spacecraft design

Experience working on a launch vehicle or satellite development effort

Experience in a startup or agile development environment

Additional Information:

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
