Inviting applications for the role of Assistant Vice President - Senior Legal Counsel

We are looking for a highly motivated, talented, and business-oriented Attorney to support our India Operations. The role would require providing advice and counsel to India teams on a broad range of local employment laws, litigation, vetting of real estate contracts, vendor contracts and other legal & compliance issues.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting local regulatory Licenses & associated filings, litigation, employment issues relevant to the region and supporting relevant India based and global teams of priorities, initiatives driven from Headquarters etc. You will partner into local India Legal compliance teams, People & ER teams, business owners on local initiatives and deliver high quality legal advice.

Responsibilities

Ø Employment Laws:

· Provide advice and guidance to business and functional teams regarding existing laws as well as any changes.

· Handle employment-related cases filed before relevant courts and agencies and further work with and manage outside counsel as necessary litigation before any Court of law.

· Regular Monitoring and ensuring the fulfilment of the Statutory Compliances under the applicable Acts. (Annual/Half Yearly /Quarterly returns etc)

· Coordinating with Government bodies regarding any legal compliance issues.

Ø Real Estate Contracts and Compliances:

· Provide advice on structuring of leases, licenses, auction of land from Government etc.

· Work with stakeholders on drawing up relevant documents to support growth of the Company e.g. development agreements, leases, licenses, auction terms, memorandum etc.

· Advice on Legal & compliance issues involved in such transactions.

· Advice and ensure compliances of aspects such as vendor documentation, CLRA, BOCW etc.

Ø Vendor Agreements and Compliances

· Balanced, Tenable & Consistent Advisory services to all cross functions- HR/ ER/ I & L, Operations, Finance, Payroll, C&B, Sourcing etc on all legal aspects. Being a trusted partner.

· Doing internal investigations and ensuring proper documentation. Experience of Handling Ombudsperson /Sexual Harassment cases

· Liaoning with the government departments and authorities

· Work closely with External Counsels and Consultants on specific tasks.

· Legal advice and inputs for any Audit; client, regulator, statutory or internal audit teams.

Ø Stakeholder & Leadership Management

· Effective communication with businesses and functions on any non-compliances and implement necessary remediation.

· Provide timely advice.

· Help management with decision-making on matters related to legal notices/ summons.

Qualifications we seek in you!

Minimum Qualifications

· LLB/LLM from a reputed college – relevant experience of PQE.

· Experience dealing with law enforcement authorities and other relevant agencies, Courts, Tribunals etc.

· Proven track record of building strong relationships with stakeholders.

· Analytical acumen and ability to streamline complex processes.

· Knowledge of recent changes in Labour laws, compliances, and statutory norms.

· Ability to work with diverse set of stakeholders on complex issues and applying practical, business judgement to legal issue to determine risks and solution.

Preferred qualifications

Experience in managing legal & Compliances in a Company/ies. Preferred work experience in IT/ ITES sector.

Excellent communication skills in English & Local language.
