Job Summary

The Hollow Metal Buyer works collaboratively with vendors, as well as internal departments, to ensure the correct product is here on time. This opportunity requires an individual to be an organized, solutions-oriented problem solver, with a keen attention to detail, while also being an effective communicator. This person will use skills acquired through the construction industry (D8). Hollow Metal, Doors, frames, and hardware (DFH) industry experience is required. This individual is expected to exhibit the core values of the company – Own It, Work as ONE Team, Find a Way, Play to Win.

The mission for this role is ensuring right parts, right time, right quality, at the right cost for our Hollow Metal department.

Outcomes

2024 Measures of Success

90% on time delivery /zero stockouts

Execution of procurement strategy and systems to include all purchasing and forecasting activities

Assist in developing and stardardizing our hollow metal ordering process

Define and manage hollow metal inventory stock levels for production

Timely and accurate placement of orders through vendor portal applications; ensure material arrives 1-2 weeks prior to customer required dates

Position Reports to: Director of Procurement

Responsibilities

Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery, and effective communication channels

Collaborate with Estimators/Project Managers to procure the most cost effective pricing

Analyze and resolve purchasing issues and price discrepancies with vendors

Monitor stock levels

Maintain accurate records including order acknowledgements and updated vendor quotes

Participate in cost reduction activities

Observe, and report price increases.

Report Key Performance Indicator data as required to analyze and track performance of internal and external processes

Vendor Sourcing as applicable

Assist in process and system improvement initiatives related to procurement

Manage and approve vendor invoices, as needed

Ability to interpret hardware templates and door builder drawings as required

Willingness to familiarize yourself with new, updated D8 products

Additional Education/Skills Requirements

Bachelors Degree in supply chain management/procurement/engineering preferred

5+ years of relevant experience working with Hollow Metal Doors & Frames (D8)

Knowledge of Division 8 standards and codes (including fire, fair housing, and ADA)

Since 1963 Dealers Building Supply, Inc. DBA Dealers Wholesale has sold and installed building materials for the construction industry in the Midwestern part of the United States. We are located in a 45,000 square foot building on 7 acres on the northeast side of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Dealers Wholesale represents some of the finest manufacturers known in the construction industry. The company specializes in the manufacture, fabrication, distribution and installation of quality building products. In 1982, Dealers decided to expand its product offering by distributing and installing commercial doors, frames and hardware. The move to selling both residential and commercial building products has helped Dealers improve its overall sales performance even when one of the sectors of the building industry is experiencing slow times.

The major product lines distributed by Dealers Wholesale includes IR (Ingersoll-Rand) Security and Safety, Marshfield Doors, Steelcraft Doors and Frames, Perma Door and Plastpro Doors, Yale Hardware and fireplaces by Heat & Glo, Heatilator and Quadra-Fire. In addition to the above Dealers sells and installs window treatments by Hunter Douglas and Levolor and has recently added bath hardware, toilet partitions and fire extinguishers to its product offering for commercial builders.

The product Dealers Wholesale offers is only part of the equation. Our staff of dedicated professionals has done work for high rise office buildings, shopping malls, state correctional facilities, churches, schools, housing projects, etc. We have a complete service and installation department that services and installs all our products with our own full time employees.

Dealers Wholesale unveiled exciting news in January 2008 when the company purchased the Metro Indianapolis division of Fireside Hearth & Home. Fireside Hearth & Home is part of Hearth & Home Technologies, a division of HNI Corporation, is considered to be the leader in the hearth industry.

In 2016, Dealers Wholesale was acquired by a Private Equity Firm called The Firefly Group. Under their leadership, Dealers Wholesale has implemented the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) and made very strategic changes to our Core Values, Mission, and short/long-term growth goals.
