Job Description
An education organization is seeking to hire a Payroll Specialist. In this seat, you will report to the CFO and join a 2-person payroll team. You will be responsible for in-house payroll using iVision software, cutting checks, processing bi-weekly payroll for 260 employees, handling timecards for part-time employees, and providing customer service by responding to multiple payroll-related inquiries involving a variety of issues which require detailed research and analysis. Any municipal/public education payroll experience is a huge plus, but not required. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of payroll experience, has strong ERP experience, and has relevant industry experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process payroll for all employees, including calculating wages, deductions, and overtime
- Ensure accurate and timely payment of wages through direct deposit or check issuance
- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data integrity
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve any issues or errors
- Collaborate with the HR department to ensure accurate employee information is maintained in the payroll system
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Stay up-to-date with payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, procedures, and regulations
- Proficient in using payroll software such as ADP
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and integrity
- Knowledge of general ledger accounting principles and account reconciliation
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
