SpaceNav is seeking a talented engineer to join our team. The engineering work is full-time and will be performed on-site at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. The Console Engineer is responsible for monitoring the health-and-safety of NASA’s Earth Observing System Data & Operations System (EDOS).
The Earth Science Mission Operations (ESMO) Project is responsible for spacecraft maintenance and operations for Earth Science missions conducted by the Earth Science Projects Division at the Goddard Space Flight Center. The ESMO Project plays a significant role during the mission life cycle, from the formulation and approval phases through the implementation and evaluation phases, and eventual deactivation. The Project's role is to ensure the health and safety of the missions it manages by fulfilling the primary operational requirements for each mission and providing the scientific community with high-quality data products in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
Perform Online Operational shift work for the EDOS ground system
Monitor the transfer of science data from various ground stations to the EDOS
Ensure all science data from various satellites is recorded and accounted for
Configure the ground system applications for scheduled passes and other activities
Ensure all products are built and successfully sent to customers
Respond to real-time outages and ground system anomalies
Respond as required to off-hour anomalies
Willing to work rotating shifts
Update/Maintain/Creation of documentation
Assist with the training and certification plan
Ensure the operational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are current
Disseminate information to other mission stakeholders
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or mathematics
Understanding of systems engineering, software engineering, and software development
5+ years’ experience with Linux and Bash scripting
US Citizenship
