Job Purpose
Provides expert consultancy to senior stakeholders across PMO, IT, third party suppliers and the appropriate areas of the business for high-level estimation and technical escalation
Ensures high code quality, technical knowledge and alignment to software development standards across all development teams within a domain and for third party suppliers where appropriate
Ensures technical blockages, risks and challenges are identified and resolved so that development teams within a domain can remain tightly focused on project delivery
Works on broad, highly visible, strategic software development projects in a complex and evolving technical and business environment
Job Responsibilities
Be the Subject Matter Expert on the services within your domain and how they interact. This includes their purpose within the business, the technologies and protocols they use, how and where they are deployed, how they communicate with other services including those from third parties and other domains, and the security standards in place.
Accountable for ensuring up-to-date documentation and appropriate knowledge sharing is in place for the above services and setting standards for skill levels within development roles
Work with the Architecture, PMO and Product Leadership functions on designing the solutions that will impact your domain, ensuring that your Senior Developers are engaged appropriately
Help the development teams across your domain to provide high level estimates and solutions for projects to guide prioritisation and resource assignment. Where appropriate, participate in sprint ceremonies to provide additional information or guidance to all attendees.
Work with the Architects, other Domain Technical Leads and Senior Developers to define coding best practice and standards and provide guidance and governance to developers across your domain to ensure best practice and standards are adhered to. Engage with senior IT stakeholders at third party suppliers to ensure they work to comparable standards where appropriate.
Accountable for the efficient and smooth running of the code review process across your domain, directly involving yourself when required for the most high-risk or complex code
Work with other IT functions as appropriate to identify and adopt best practice and contribute towards the delivery of a mature CI/CD/Automation capability, including working with Product Owners to ensure appropriate prioritisation of work
Act as an Agile advocate within your domain, working with the Domain IT Manager, Scrum Masters and Senior Developers to drive the correct behaviours and attitudes
Be available, on a best endeavors basis, to support Senior Developers in the resolution of Severity 1 and 2 incidents for applications owned by your domain between 7am and 10pm local time on local working days as well as providing retrospective feedback

App and API Services
Storage (Blobs, Tables and Queues)

E - Excellent understanding of data and database design
E - Excellent understanding of Agile software design & full systems development lifecycle
E - Excited by technology, with up-to-date understanding of the latest technologies and a desire to learn new technologies
E - Proven track record in working individually or as part of a team to deliver software solutions to meet customer needs
E - Thorough and detailed approach with the ability to identify appropriate user/business solutions
E - High experience of code reviews and coding standards
E - Good oral and written communication skills including problem solving, prioritizing and interpersonal relationship building
E - Proven ability to facilitate group discussion and build consensus
E - Ability to effectively lead, influence and provide governance over software development teams
