We are seeking a talented and experienced Media Relations Director to join our team and lead our efforts across the music and entertainment space.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in earned media, exceptional writing skills, and an extensive network of contacts within the industry.

The ideal candidate is based in DC, New York City, Los Angeles, or Nashville.

Your Responsibilities Include

Develop and execute comprehensive earned media strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives. This includes identifying key media outlets, target audiences, and messaging priorities.

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists, influencers, and key stakeholders in the music and entertainment space.

Proactively pitch and secure media coverage for initiatives, events, partnerships, activations, and announcements.

Effectively communicate our principles and key messages to external audiences.

Support the development of talking points and social content for thought leaders.

Oversee the creation and distribution of press releases, media assets, fact sheets, and other materials to support communications efforts.

Collaborate closely with internal teams, including marketing, communications, content, digital and creative to ensure alignment and consistency across all communication channels.

Monitor media coverage and industry trends, providing insights and recommendations to leadership.

Support crisis communication and issues management, ensuring timely and appropriate responses to any potential challenges or controversies.

Knowledge and Skills You Bring to the Organization

8+ years of experience in communications, PR, or related roles, with a focus on earned media.

Proven track record of securing high-impact media coverage and building strong relationships with media contacts.

Excellent writing skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and messaging for diverse audiences.

Extensive network of contacts within the music and entertainment industries.

Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a results-driven mindset.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.

Experience managing crisis communication and navigating sensitive issues with professionalism and integrity.

Passion for music and entertainment, with a deep understanding of industry trends and dynamics.
