Financial Analyst

The Financial Analyst is responsible for creating, developing, and monitoring all activity associated with TSPMG annual operating budgets, forecasts and reporting. Directly interface with departmental managers, operations directors, and HR regarding financial related activity and information. Will also be responsible for analyzing and reporting TSPMG financial and operational results. Work collaboratively with Kaiser Permanente GA (KPGA) peers. Must be able to perform independently, often under critical deadlines.

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Analyze financial data and provide forecasting support.

Prepare reports and projections based on financial data.

Recommend individual and collections of investments, also known as portfolios.

Evaluate current and previous financial data.

Study business and economic trends.

Determine a company’s value by examining its financial statements.

Provide support, information and fulfill on ad hoc requests from customers (internal & external) to assist them with acquiring data relevant to their operations.

Maintain TSPMG Position Requests and keep track of positions reviewed and approved by MGLT

Maintain NCAP cost accounting system

Perform monthly reporting and monitoring of financial reports including financial and operational analysis.

Where needed, assist with special projects and internal audits.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field from an accredited program OR other bachelor’s degree with equivalent professional experience in finance or accounting

Preferred Education:

B.S. - Finance/Accounting Major or related Business Field such as Economics

Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications:

Able to understand and modify database reporting systems. Proficiency in SQL server or similar database application is required

In depth experience in preparing and analyzing financial statements,

Possess a strong understanding of budgeting and forecasting techniques,

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct & interpret quantitative/qualitative analysis,

Possess strong technical skills in systems analysis and database management

Experience with cost accounting platforms (EPSI and Stata are a plus)

Excellent communication, interpersonal, & presentation skills,

Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial analysis,

Proficient with MS Office (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Tableau or other business intelligence tools,

Familiarity with medical terminology and health plan issues and management practices. Understanding of health care norms in the community,

Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects and handle changing priorities, while meeting deadlines,

Detail oriented

Self-starter and excellent follow through skills

Internal audit experience a plus

Project management skills a plus

Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications:

Significant experience with Cognos Budgeting/Forecasting system and Café reports; or similar budgeting systems

Minimum 2 years of related analytical &/or consulting experience required,

Experience in a multi-faceted health care system/managed care environment preferred

Prior experience with HMO’s, hospitals, and/or large physician practices considered a plus,

Prior experience in Public Accounting experience

Ability to identify issues & propose methodological solutions, and

Proficient w/ PC applications including spreadsheet, word processing, & graphics packages for presentation purposes.
