JOB TITLE: Food Service Worker
LOCATION: T’s and Scooters
PAY RATE: $15.57/ hour
HOURS: T’s- M-F 8am-3:30pm & Scooters – M-Saturday 3:00pm- 10:30pm
JOB SUMMARY
The University of St. Thomas Dining Services provides meals for approximately 12,000 students, faculty and staff as well as community members, and visitors. Dining Services’ Retail offers flexible work schedules (morning, afternoon, evening and weekend) at convenient on-campus locations. The student food service worker position primarily serves customers in retail dining. This position will cross-train in all positions in the operation, including food prep/service, cashier, dish washer and retail. Successful student food service workers will have opportunities for advancement as a Student Lead. Training is provided – no previous experience required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prep, cook and/or serve food at various food stations
Set up stations for meal service
Restock food, service ware and supplies
Greet customers and operate cash register
Comply with MN Department of Health food safety guidelines
Listen and follow directions
TRANSFERABLE SKILLS
Learn patience, politeness, assertiveness, and approachability by providing customer service to a diverse customer base
Become comfortable with basic cooking skills including knife handling, sautéing, grilling, weighing, and measuring ingredients and recipe following
Develop proficiency in adhering to policies such as the MN Department of Health Code to ensure safe food handling
Cultivate time management and work/life balance skills

QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to:
Move about in a kitchen, servery and dining hall setting
Tolerate various working conditions: noisy, hot dish room, cold walk-in coolers and freezers
Lift and transport materials weighing up to 40 pounds
Remain standing for extended periods of time
Retrieve items stored in low and high areas
Understand and follow verbal and written directions

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
