Job Description

The Project

ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel – Stage 2, Sydney’s third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.

Project scope includes:

Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction

Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels

Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway

In line with the above, ACCIONA is now looking for a Network Engineer to join the team at our main office in North Sydney. The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, installing, testing, and commissioning the tunnel’s network infrastructure. This infrastructure connects ITS, control and communication systems, and mechanical and electrical plants to the Operational Management and Control Software (OMCS).

Key accountabilities for the position:

Supervise the design and development of highly reliable and available mission-critical networks.

Collaborate with system designers and stakeholders to develop and refine the network design to meet the subsystem requirements, including reliability and availability targets.

Oversee the installation and commissioning of network systems, ensuring adherence to project specifications and timelines.

Conduct rigorous testing and validation of network setups to meet safety and operational requirements.

Manage subcontractors and ensure effective communication between all project stakeholders.

Review and approve design documentation

Required Skills and Competencies

Capability & Experience you will need to have:

Prior experience in a similar position and hold relevant qualifications.

Prior project experience

Strong knowledge of Ethernet/IP mission-critical networks.

Proven experience in systems engineering and project delivery.

Excellent stakeholder and subcontractor management abilities.

Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to work under pressure.
