Role Summary - We are looking to fill this role in January 2024

The Principal Data and Domain Architect is responsible for setting the strategy for the VCI’s data architecture and providing technical architecture direction for delivery of the target state. The person appointed will closely work with Enterprise Architecture Team and will be responsible for the design and implementation of the enterprise-wide data strategy, ensuring the strategy supports the current and future business needs. They will apply their knowledge of good architecture practice, architecture documentation and data technologies to comprehensively capture the VCI’s current state holistic data architecture and oversee target state design and implementation. The role will involve collaborating with Business, Data Management Office, and internal and external IT stakeholders at all levels to ensure the enterprise data strategy and associated implementation is adding value to the business.

A key component of this role will be defining the guiding principles and goals of how the enterprise will utilize and consume data to drive insights and deployment of data science products to achieve business goals.

Role Responsibilities

Key Strategic Duties

Documenting the detailed holistic physical data architecture for both current and target state

Capturing the physical enterprise data model, working with the Data Management Office to align to the conceptual and logical models.

Setting the strategy for data architecture to support the Business and IT strategies and maintaining the data architecture principles.

Creating the data architecture documents and templates for change initiatives and supporting solution architects to complete.

Lead data architecture governance forums and provide subject matter expert input to architecture decisions

Manage holistic roadmap of architecture change initiatives across the VCI, coordinating requirements across different initiatives.

Provide technical expertise for change initiatives, working with solution architects, technical architects and business product owners.

Work with IT and the Data Management Office to ensure requirements for data governance, quality, metadata management, mastering and security are delivered.

Be a key stakeholder and advisor in all new strategic data initiatives and ensure alignment to the enterprise-wide data strategy.

Build a framework of principles to ensure data integrity across the business.

Provide technical oversight to Solution Architects in creating business driven solutions adhering to the enterprise architecture and data governance standards

Be an advocate of data security principles and ensure appropriate security practices are embedded in any data strategy.

Be an active contributor to how the VCI evolves Data Governance practices and influence the adoption of data standards •

Evaluate rapidly evolving data and analytics tools/ technology and document recommendations

Understand the self-service and advance analytics needs at enterprise level and drive the data and analytics tools and technology roadmap

Publish best practices and standards for Data Integration, transformation and consumption

To drive consistent standards and approaches throughout the team, building an environment that encourages continuous improvement and innovationArchitect and Design data ingestion and consumption patterns on AWS cloud

Working with the wider Enterprise Architecture community to develop the target architecture

Operational Work –

Develop key performance measures for data integration and quality.

Support third party data suppliers in developing specifications that are congruent with the Enterprise data architecture

Provide oversight and mentorship to data architects and data engineers on physical,logical data models, data integration and transformation pipelines

Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support data analytics integration solutions.

Ensure the timely resolution of issues.

Follow VCI standards and guidelines.

Required Experience

Minimum 15+ years in data warehousing, Data Engineering & Analytics Experience

Minimum 5+ years of Cloud data architecture (preferably AWS)

Minimum 1-2 years experience in ML OPS engineering / Advance Analytics

Required Education

B.S. in Computer Science or related discipline.

Desired Education

Advanced Degree a plus

Required Specialized Skills

AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty

AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty

Integration solutions, working with structured methodologies and development of various deliverables including Data Warehouse, Operational Data Store, Data Lake and various Business Intelligence Solutions.

Established experience delivering information management solutions to large numbers of end users.

Operational Data Store, Data Lake and various Business Intelligence Solutions.

Extensive experience in architecting and implementing enterprise data warehouse, Master data Management, data integration, BI & analytics, content management and data management platforms

· Experience of creating and implementing data strategies that align with business objectives

· Strong knowledge of industry best practices around data architecture in both cloud based and on prem solutions.

· Experience of mapping key Enterprise data entities to business capabilities and applications

· Excellent problem solving and data modelling skills (logical, physical, sematic and integration models) including normalisation, OLAP / OLTP principles and entity relationship analysis

· A strong knowledge of horizontal data lineage from source to output

· Experience in data integration solutions,

such as extract transform and load (ETL), orchestration and API development and the

various platforms available (cloud and on prem). Examples include Informatica, Biztalk, Jitterbit, etc

· Cloud development on AWS using various

platform features such as Kinesis / Firehose, Glue, Redshift, S3, Lambda, SDK, API Gateway, Sagemaker etc …

· Experience with open source integration

technologies; ability to properly design and

structure big data; examples include Hadoop, Hive, Hue, Impala, Spark and Kafka

KanBan and Agile methodologies

Self-motivated and able to work efficiently and accurately

Desired Specialized Skills

· Experience of working in Financial Services (Automotive).

· Modern development practices – e.g. DevOps

· Experience in ML OPS

Work Flexibility

· Travel possible up to 15%

· Onsite, remote work on Manager’s direction

· Minimum 8 hours per day, M-F.

Flexibility to work outside of core hours (Monday – Friday) to support business demand

Salary range is dependent on factors such as geographical differentials, industry-based experience, skills, training, credentials, and other qualifications.

In the state of California, the salary range is $128,400- $196,000

In the state of Colorado, the salary range is $116,700- $178,200

In the state of Washington, salary range is $128,400- $196,000

In New York City, New York, the salary range is $140,000- $213,800

In Westchester County, New York, the salary range is $140,000- $213,800
