Job Description
Position Purpose or Objective
The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for all functions relating to the processing of drug products; consistent with established Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), customer requirements and in conjunction with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Responsible for the safe and efficient execution of their job duties, while ensuring product compliance to established standards.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Responsibilities/ Accountabilities
Enforce compliance of current Good Manufacturing Procedures standards including proper identification, segregation and staging of materials.
Interpret and enforce safety, quality, health and personnel regulations.
Coach, direct, develop and train team members and group leaders.
Effectively manage employee relations within assigned area.
Facilitate team improvements and participate in team projects.
Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to team members to maximize potential.
Coordinate staff schedules and capacity planning requirements for assigned area.
Participate in recruiting personnel for packaging department.
Ensure quality of packing products.
Review lot history documentation for accuracy and product release.
Create, maintain, and report performance measures and proactively drive process improvement.
Conduct internal investigations relating to quality, safety, and personnel.
Conduct training and daily meetings for all packaging departments regarding safety, packaging needs, GMP company policies etc.
Facilitate communication/collaborate with supervisors and peers in various functional areas such: Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, HR, QC, QA, etc.
Advise management of possible problems within the department and corrective actions to be taken.
Enter and review data Master Control and Material Requirements Planning Systems (MRP) as needed.
Schedule personnel for the shift.
Identify packaging areas for improvement (efficiency/lean operation), quality, and safety and implement accordingly.
Conduct internal investigation related to product/packaging failure deviations.
Lead safety related programs. Write safety incident reports, near misses and take corrective actions.
Ensure at least 50% of the time is spent on packaging floor.
Proficient in performing transactions in SAP Production Suite.
Adhere to Safety, Health, and Environmental policies.
Other duties as assigned.
Education Qualifications
BA/BS degree in a related field preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to organize priorities and separate what is urgent
Ability to analyze problems and propose recommendations
Ability to effectively and clearly communicate, both written and verbally in English
Highly organized and able to document accurately
Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and team members to achieve desired results
Ability to resolve issues pertaining to packaging
Ability to communicate the needs and agenda of packaging department to other groups
Intermediate to Advanced level usage with Microsoft Office Suite
