Director of Special Projects

Your new company Vancouver based General Contractor that has been established for over 25 years. The company undertakes a variety of residential, commercial and institutional projects with values up to $40m. These include a variety of Design/Build, Construction Management and Stipulated sum delivery methods. In recent years the company has been undergoing a period of sustained but measured growth. The company takes pride in having assembled a team of like-minded, educated and experienced individuals that enjoy the opportunity to work for a thriving privately owned business away from the corporate construction world.

The company has a very successful Special Projects business that is focused on projects in the $5-15m range. These projects include a variety of TI, capital projects and energy upgrades. The work is locally based and is primarily undertaken for a small number of repeat clients.

Your new role Until now the Special Projects Division has been run by the leadership of the broader business. As both areas of the business are performing so well it has been determined that it would be prudent to hire a new senior leader to direct the Special Projects Division specifically. The Director will lead a team of Project Managers plus associated support and field staff. You will liaise closely with external clients and provide guidance and mentorship to the team.

What you'll need to succeed We need a dynamic leader that inspires others. Although you will not be hands on with running projects yourself, the role requires someone with a deep understanding of project management. Ideally you have been a Project Director or a Senior Project Manager with an established business locally. The business operates with a focus on rigor and process and consequently we want to attract a leader that values both. You must be confident building relationships with external clients and troubleshooting issues on the fly as they arise.

What you'll get in return In return for your hard work and commitment you will receive an attractive base salary ($140,000-$160,000), the opportunity to earn a performance related bonus, vehicle allowance, RSP matching and benefits.
