About Houston-Galveston Area Council
The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.

What will I be doing?
Partner with hiring managers and individuals at all levels of the organization to address staffing needs throughout the agency
Review resumes and applications, conduct thorough candidate screenings and effectively communicate the agency's unique selling points to engage potential hires
Maintain up-to-date records in the applicant tracking system, phone screening notes, documenting candidate assessments and requisition details
Source candidates through job boards, social media, professional networks, and industry events to attract a diverse pool of qualified candidates
Use LinkedIn recruiter to proactively identify passive candidates and engage them through personalized outreach and networking
Build and maintain strong relationships with candidates throughout the recruitment process, providing regular updates and acting as a main point of contact
Ensure a positive candidate experience by addressing questions, providing feedback, and ensuring timely communication
Conduct employment verifications and reference checks on selected candidates
Stay up to date with industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor insights, using this knowledge to guide effective recruitment strategies
Maintain accurate and up-to-date recruitment data and analytics, generating reports to track key metrics and identify areas for improvement
Identify and propose solutions to inefficiencies in the recruiting process
Develop strategies to resource for hard to fill positions
Participate and assist in university job fairs and recruiting networking events to increase brand awareness
Various Human Resources projects as assigned
Key Qualifications
Recruiting experience that includes designing recruitment plans, mining, and sourcing candidates through various social media outlets
Demonstrate a sense of urgency to deliver excellent customer service
Exposure to various Human Resources Management Systems (HRMS) and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Do you have…
Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
5 year’s of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties
Preferred Qualifications
Working experience with various systems to include HRIS (UKG preferred), LMS, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and One Drive
