Southern Point Staffing has a career opportunity for an Electrical Engineer for a university in Athens GA! Summary of job: An Engineer is tasked with a diverse array of responsibilities encompassing the planning, design, and management of construction and maintenance activities for infrastructure projects. This includes but is not limited to building structures, roads, bridges, irrigation systems, pipelines, and water/sewage networks. Within this role, the Engineer collaborates closely with stakeholders to ensure projects meet regulatory standards and functional requirements. Typically reporting to a Facilities Manager, the Engineer may also assume supervisory duties, providing guidance and oversight to fellow engineers involved in project execution.

Responsibilities and Daily Duties:

1. Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical or geologic data.

2. Coordinate with Facilities Management Division (FMD), University Housing, Auxiliary Services and other entities to maintain civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, telecommunication, and security systems.

3. Create documentation for designs, contracts and proposals using AutoCAD for projects.

4. Direct engineering activities ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, or other governmental regulations.

5. Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.

6. Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.

7. Manage and direct the construction, operations, or maintenance activities at project site.

8. Negotiates and administers Commissioning Agentâ s scope of work based on Owner Provided Requirements (OPR) to ensure compliance with UGA Standards and contract procedures.

9. Provide technical advice to industrial or managerial personnel regarding design, construction, or program modifications or structural repairs.

10. Provides engineering leadership for all aspects of planning, design, construction, and warranty period of facility engineering systems and infrastructure for UGA facilities.

Qualifications and Experience:

PE required from an accredited ABET university

Valid Driver's License

4+ years experience with design, design development, cost estimating, field verification and construction administration for alteration, renovation, and repair of all electrical services and associated work in existing and new buildings.

2+ years experience preferred with supervising personnel engaged in the planning, design, and estimating of such projects.

4+ years working with various related projects, with a focus on electrical given preference.

The ability to work independently, to make sound technical decisions while exercising considerable initiative and creativity within the scope of policy directives.

Schedule and Compensation:

Salary Range from $85,000 to $105,000.

Schedule: Monday â Friday 8:00 am â 5:00 pm (EST)
