Responsibilities

The Nursing Services Manager, develops and implements medical service objectives, policies and procedures to maintain quality medical service delivery within the Agency's residential programs, and in accordance with agency, state and federal regulations.

Direct and lead the nursing team to ensure the provision of quality nursing care to diverse populations. Evaluate care and ensure client satisfaction.

Orient nursing team to their job responsibilities and provide leadership in clinical problem solving.

Ensure team is trained and knowledgeable of all governing regulations and procedures. Conduct training sessions with team as needed.

Conduct regular team meetings and individual supervisions to monitor the quality of care and ensure client heath care demands are met and regulations are followed.

Recommend program changes and strategies to best meet the needs of the clients served.

Assess and re-assesses client needs. Conduct program visits and assessments to evaluate level of care and delivery of medical services to clients.

Recommend and collaborate in in-service education programs geared to meet the specialized needs of a diverse population.

Network in the community and work with colleagues and staff to enhance the quality of medical services and client care.

Ensure medical services and records adhere to various licensing and regulatory requirements.

Develop, implement and interpret organizational policies and procedures, nursing standards and regulations.

Ultimate responsibility for the maintenance of medical records and completion of program reports in adherence to all oversight agencies, state and federal regulations.

Maintain guidelines and policies as established by the funding sources and Toomey Residential and Community Services.

Ensure medication administration certification and CPR/FA trainings is available for appropriate staff

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Required at Entry: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited School of Nursing with five (5) years experience as a registered nurse, including experience leading or supervising nursing or heath care staff or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree and experience in a group care facility is preferred.

Licenses/Certificate/Clearances: Current N.Y.S Registered Nurse licensure, Valid N.Y.S. Drivers License, Clearance from N.Y.S. Child Abuse Registry. Criminal background clearance through OPWDD and OMH.

Skills/Abilities: Basic computer skills, CPR/FA, have good verbal & written skills; ability to train staff. Excellent communication & interpersonal skills needed to work with a wide variety of people both within the agency and the community.
