Employee relations is an essential element of the broader employee experience, as a function dedicated to fostering a positive, trusting, and productive work environment. The Senior Manager, Employee Relations position will lead the employee relations function and will play a critical role in defining, scaling, and executing employee relations programs, as well as influencing individualized staff support experiences. This position will report into the Senior Manager, Employee Experience and will initially manage one Senior Employee Relations Specialist.
What you'll do:
Define employee relations initiatives and goals and champion them with internal partners and stakeholders
Develop partnerships and manage relationships with business leaders across the company
Analyze employee relations case and survey data to identify trends and recommend strategic interventions to strengthen manager effectiveness, reduce and mitigate repeating issue types, and improve the overall work environment
Establish regular insight reporting cadence to CPO, HRBPs, and other key executives
Investigate and recommend actions to resolve complex employee relations issues
Provide expert coaching and counseling to leaders managing the performance lifecycle, from expectation setting to performance improvement to termination where appropriate.
In partnership with Legal stakeholders, track changes in labor laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure our employee relations practices and protocols align with applicable laws and best practices
Collaborate with Legal and People Team stakeholders to develop and implement people-related policies and procedures
Develop and deliver a training curriculum for people leaders that will enable managers of all experience levels to understand and proactively manage employee relations issues with fairness and consistency
Develop and execute on an ER knowledge management strategy, including both an internal team documentation framework and a company-wide resource center
Identify, manage, and monitor risks, proposing improvements and mitigation strategies
Own content and applicability of severance and separation agreements
Manage and coach Senior Employee Relations Specialist on cases and project work; with the opportunity to grow the team over time as the business scales
Participate in broader People Team initiatives
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
A bachelor’s degree in human resources, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
10+ years of progressive experience, including leading Employee Relations or a related function, with a minimum of two years leading a team; technology and contact center experience preferred
Experience partnering with legal teams and an in-depth understanding of US employment laws, regulations, policies, principles, concepts and practices
Demonstrated experience investigating complex employee relations issues
To be an effective relationship builder and communicator, with the ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to set objectives, influence outcomes, and make decisions
Experience building and leveraging data sets to look for and anticipate trends with the intent to influence programs and practices that create the best employee experience
A global outlook, building practices that apply across departments, locations, and working arrangements
The ability to conceptualize and implement programs at scale
Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, and interpersonal
Comfort operating in ambiguous situations
An orientation towards problem solving
SPHR preferred but not required

The actual pay rate offered within the range will depend on factors including geographic location, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
