Career Transitions Holdings is currently seeking an experience operations leader to serve as President & General Manager of a small, yet highly profitable manufacturing organization in the steel and metal fabrication industry, located in Madison Heights.

Executive Summary: To successfully lead the organization in all aspects of the business manufacturing operation within the tubular steel industry. The goal of this six-figure leadership role is industry growth and value generation for the enterprise and its 30 employees.

President & General Manager Responsibilities:

Catalyst of respectful, safe, honorable, and hard-working culture.

Guarantees adequate and accurate accounting and financial practices.

Supports and manages department leaders to ensure the collective meets set goals.

Responsible for the overall commodity sourcing strategy, mechanisms, and position management to ensure an advantageous placement of the company within the commodity cycles. While simultaneously minimizing and managing the inherent risk of commodities cycles and their volatility.

Critical understanding of the overall commodity cycles and the defining buy/sell strategies needed within each part of the cycle depending on the macro/micro-economics dynamics.

High proficiency in inventory control (high volume qty/profiles), management (turn ratio), and strategic use (what to inventory) of such as the core advantage of the business.

Direct and promote manufacturing of high-volume batch mentality striving to increase efficiency and cost absorption.

Direct and support preventive-proactive maintenance as a key role of manufacturing practice and plant management. Highly intensive maintenance operation: both time and resources must be allocated religiously.

Scrutinize and control the quality (properties to meet product requirements but also to increase manufacturing efficiency) of incoming Raw Material through supplier control as well as internal protocols. Possess vast steel knowledge on hot-rolled flat products.

Research, lead, and execute major capital investment projects (Capex).

Define pricing strategies based on market cycles, geographical location, service, and product mix.

Presents strategies, analysis, and results to executives, key stakeholders, and the board of directors.

President & General Manager Requirements:

Bachelors degree with deep operations experience within the steel industry.

Servant leadership/management experience.

Background in tube mills and/or steel tube products with experience in synchronizing positive strategies under ongoing volatile commodity market cycles.

Other experience helpful:

Strong financial and accounting knowledge.

Procurement and purchasing negotiations.

High-level sales: Relationship building and bravery attitude while facing competition.

Proficient in various Microsoft Office software. (Excel: Highly Proficient).

High expertise with an ERP system (Epicor a plus).

Understanding of Union Shop environment and dynamics.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
